Emshield WFR
Emshield® WFR1 / Emshield® WFR2 / Emshield® WFR3 Fire rated wall expansion joint sealing systems, Emshield WFR1 (Wall, Fire-Rated 1-Hour/ Wall, Fire-Rated 2-Hour, Fire Rated 3-Hour) are watertight, fire-rated, dual-sided primary sealing systems for new works, refurbishment and retrofit sealing of structural movement / expansion joints (and construction joints if necessary), in the vertical plane, for internal and external walls and heads-of-wall applications.
In addition to accommodating joint movement of up to 100% (=/- 50%), the Emshield WFR 1,2 and 3 systems are also UL-certified fire barriers and preformed alternatives to the multiple -part build-ups of extruded movement joints sealants plus fire resistant caulking and fire stopping materials, with all associated possibilities for weakness and potential performance variations etc.
Emshield WFR systems feature dual-sided silicone sealing surfaces adhered to a fire-retardant impregnated foam backing., which means that both sides of the expansion joint are waterproof, and fire rated. Emshield WFR systems therefore eliminate the need for fire blankets, mineral wools, extruded / gun applied sealants, fire resistant caulking compounds, cover plates, or other forms of fire stopping and barrier materials.

These unique Emseal solutions can be used alone or under any other expansion joint cover plates or fillers as and where the depth of the substrate wall allows–with Emshield WFR solutions just ‘one install does it all’ as our American friends say! As with all Emseal movement joint solutions, this non-invasive anchoring technology with structurally bonded solutions, vastly simplifies installation and project scheduling. Emshield WFR fire rated wall expansion joints are tested and certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL and ULC), to the rigours of UL 2079 for both walls and heads-of-walls expansion joints, plus they have also been certified by the California Department of Public Health CDPH/EHLB/Standard Method Version 1.2, 2017 as low-emitting construction materials to support project sustainability credentials.
